I was born in Italy, I lived there for 13 years, and then I moved to the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>My parents are Dutch. After finishing high school and the university in the Netherlands there was unemployment due to the crisis.<\/p>\n<p>I studied English language and then American history and culture, and most of the people I knew at the time did not get good jobs after the university at all.<\/p>\n<p>My father moved to Russia for his work, and he told me that I could either look for a job or do nothing in the Netherlands, or look for a job, or do nothing with him in Russia.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve always believed that if you want to find a good opportunity to move up in the world, you have to be ready to move at least every seven years. So, I moved to Moscow to find a good job.<\/p>\n<p>I found one. But these things are mostly food and family related.<\/p>\n<p>Other than that, there are not many things in the Netherlands for me. The climate there is pretty pessimistic with the economy and budget issues from the state. People discuss politics a lot at home and I don&#8217;t have time for that.<\/p>\n<p>I have my job and girlfriend here, I&#8217;m pretty happy now. Being underground when everyone goes to work or goes home\u2026there is not much oxygen.<br \/>\nOf course, when it&#8217;s minus 20 and there is a snow-storm I will not ride.<\/p>\n<p>I did that once. It was a good and fun experience, but I won&#8217;t do it every day.<\/p>\n<p>For safety I do stay on the sidewalks. Russian drivers are not very subtle, slow or always good at what they do. I am not suicidal.<\/p>\n<p>I did manage to fall off my bike twice.<\/p>\n<p>Once, when a pedestrian came out from behind a car and I either moved out of the way or hit him. My backpack took the force of the fall, so I was not hurt at all, just wet because of the water in the street. It was raining anyway however, so it was not too much of a problem<\/p>\n<p>The second time I fell was when there was a snow storm and it was minus 24. I was almost home from work and the sidewalk was covered in half a centimeter of pure ice, not the tight snow, just ice.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, I almost made it and I made the mistake of being a little too proud and started to accelerate on the ice.
